Gig ‘n the Bann 2014 is back this year again in Portglenone, outside Ballymena from 11th – 14th September. This will be the 15th Gig ‘n the Bann and the organisers have put together another fantastic programme of events. Song, music, dance, art, even a fun run, there’s lots going on!
Ballymena Today is all about community and connecting communities , so why not take a trip to Portglenone and support this fantastic cross-cultural Festival. Just to give you a flavour of what’s on, here’s a few events we’ve picked from the programme.
- Thursday 11th September – Run ‘n the Bann, a 5k fun run, or you can choose to walk! Register at 1st Portglenone Presbyterian Church Hall – Adm £6 which will go to support the work of the Community Rescue Service. Time from 6.00 -6.45pm.
- If you’re a music fan there’s lots of events happening which you can enjoy including concerts in the Riverside Suite in the Wild Duck on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. Artists include De Danann, Niamh McGlinchey, We Banjo 3 and lots of others. Also accoustic sessions on Saturday in the local cafes – 3 Sixteen Coffee Shop & the Rose Cafe. - There’s a free Family Fun Day on Saturday 13th from 2pm – 5pm at the Playing Fields, Townhill Road & also from 1pm – 5pm there’s Pipe ‘n the Bann in the middle of the village for all you pipe and drum enthusiasts.
- The Gig ‘n the Bann 2014 winds up on Sunday evening with Praise ‘n the Bann, where local churches come together to lead worship in the Bank Square , and finally a concert in the Wild Duck with The Fureys – Doors 7.30 Adm £15
