If you’ve never visited the guys at Slemish Market Garden Ballymena we would definitely recommend you go and see it for yourself. You’ll see fruit, vegetables and plants growing here, near The Ecos Centre, as nature intended. No chemicals used here! Also the shop is really well stocked with not only their own amazing produce but they promote and sell lots of products and produce from other local suppliers. Seeing local businesses connecting, supporting each other and providing great quality food for their customers is what we love to see here at Ballymena Today.
When you call you’re likely to be greeted by at least one of the welcome team! – that’s the 3 dogs, Belle, Sally & Dixie! NO need to worry, they’re exceptionally friendly. Slemish Market Garden is run by Frank, Linda, Matthew & Lori who’s brought some American influence, especially at the minute, with a massive selection of pumpkins, squashes & gourds for sale. When you go into the shop you’ll be met with that amazing smell you get when there’s fresh fruit & veg about. Their produce is all grown traditionally using organic and bio-dynamic methods. Also in the shop they stock Keen Nut Butter, jams from Granny’s Pantry, Broighter Gold rape seed oils, locally grown garlic from Tullygarlic as well as their own range of home baked products. Not forgetting the free range eggs from the dozens of chickens you’ll see running around when you visit.
For all the keen Ballymena gardeners, Slemish Market Garden has a fantastic selection of cottage garden plants, potted plants and shrubs on site and lots of transplants for all you budding green fingered gardeners (what a shocking pun!) who want to try to grow your own. They’re very happy at Slemish Market Garden to give you all the advice you will need to get your plants from transplants to fully grown plants.
If you’re a regular customer you won’t need us to tell you, but this is a great place not only to shop, but also to stop for a chat – and Frank just loves to tell a good story! Keep up to date with what’s going on at Slemish Market Garden Ballymena by liking their facebook page here
