The family business has been cooking great food in Ahoghill for the last five years and are delighted to have won.

We called at the shop to find out more. While we were there it would have been rude not to try one of their award-winning fish suppers! As you can probably tell from the photo we were not disappointed!! It was excellent.
Owners Stewart and Nicola said,
“We started the business in 1987 on Railway Street in Antrim and moved to Ahoghill five years ago. Our aim has always been to serve great quality food and provide a friendly service to our customers. We have always used the finest ingredients and buy from local suppliers where possible. We fry our food in the best oils available and our fish is from North Atlantic sustainable stock. We don’t use any known GM products either. So when all this attention to detail is rewarded with an award like this one from the Licensed and Catering News it makes us very happy. We were up against some very stiff competition from great chip shops all over Northern Ireland so we are delighted to have won!”

The Licensed and Catering News (LCN) is the business magazine for the Hospitality Industry. The LCN Awards 2019 were held in the Europa Hotel, Belfast on 7th June. The gala evening is routinely a sold out event and brings together representatives from many of Northern Ireland’s leading hospitality venues.
The award for Chip Shop of the Year was judged by mystery shoppers. They were of course looking for excellent fish and chips when they visited Frew’s. But also the speed and efficiency of service, cleanliness and the welcome from the staff were also assessed. An attractive shop both inside and out was taken into consideration as was informative promotional material.

Frew’s award winning Fish and Chip Shop is open Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 10pm each day. You can enjoy all their meals either by sitting in their spacious diner or takeaway.
