The Braid Mid-Antrim Museum based in Ballymena is currently showing an exhibition of patchwork quilts. Patchwork quilts of all styles, ages and from lots of different places will be on display to the public in the Exhibition Gallery from 5th July to 3rd September 2014.
This is a treat for any locals who are enthusiastic about arts and crafts. The exhibition also includes some quilts from the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum which are being displayed for the first time alongside contemporary examples from local folks.
“Dating from the mid 1800’s onwards, they show a skilful application of pattern, colour and needlework, and have been constructed from a variety of fabrics including printed cotton, linen, tweed, velvet and even flour sacks.” (from www.thebraid.com)
