The Northern Ireland Golf open is soon to be held at Galgorm Castle in Ballymena. The event ran sucessfully last year and is returning this year with golf, a food festival and offers a great weekend out. The event will run from 6th – 9th August 2015.

The Northern Ireland Open is one of Northern Ireland’s core international tourism events and continues to grow every year. In 2013, the event attracted over 22,000 spectators, in 2014 over 34,000 visitors attended and in 2015 over 35,000 visitors are expected to flock to the event. The NI Open is part of the European Challenge Tour’s international schedule.
The European Challenge Tour is the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe, the final stepping-stone to the ‘big time’ of world golf. A vast amount of former European Tour Challenge Tour players have gone on to win major championships and be part of successful Ryder Cup teams including, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer, Ian Poulter and our very own Michael Hoey.
The Northern Ireland Open attracts strong Irish contingent of Irish European Tour players including; Michael Hoey, Damien McGrane, Peter Lawrie, Simon Thornton, Gareth Maybin and Kevin Phelan and a host of former European Tour winners including Johan Edfors, Pelle Edberg and Phillip Price.
And if you aren’t a golfer then go along and enjoy the food festival which attracts local businesses from bakers to local breweries who sell their products over the weekend.
