BBC Antiques Road Trip comes to Angela’s Antiques Ballymena

Angela’s Antiques and Jewellery welcomed the BBC One Antiques Road Trip to their Church Street shop yesterday (Wed 6th March). The programme sees ‘antiques experts set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.’ The antiques expert from Road Trip who came to visit Angela’s Antiques in the funky red Beetle was David Harper, a regular on the show.

Unfortunately we can’t tell you just yet what David bought or how much he paid for it! We can’t be spoilers, and you’ll have to wait until the programme is aired before we know if the piece bought in Angela’s is a winning piece.

We spoke to Angela and her daughter Amy who own the shop. They said, “It’s great to have the Antiques Road Trip team visit our shop and come to Ballymena. We have recently moved into these larger premises and so it’s a great way to get our name out there. It was great to meet David and we’re obviously looking forward to watching the programme whenever it gets shown.”

Angela’s Antiques and Jewellery, Church Street, Ballymena

Angela’s Antiques has been trading in Ballymena since 1993 and has recently relocated to new, larger premises at 133 Church Street, just opposite the Harmony Hub. Owners, Angela and Amy Smyth were contacted recently about the possibility of the visit from the Antiques Road Trip and jumped at the opportunity.

The new shop has a fantastic selection of antiques and jewellery on display. They go to great lengths to ensure every customer gets excellent customer service. Angela has 30 years experience in the antiques and jewellery trade and has passed on that knowledge to her daughter Amy who also works in the family business.

As well as the relocation of the shop, Angela and Amy also realise the importance of having a good online presence. With that in mind they have launched a fantastic new website and improved their social media presence.

We asked what the shop offers its customers. They said,

“We offer a large selection of antique and new jewellery alongside a wide range of antique porcelain. Our unique collection of fine porcelain includes collectable manufacturers such as Noritake, Royal Doulton, Crown Devon and many more. We also offer repairs and resizing of all jewellery. We carry out valuations, house clearances, we buy gold and much more.”
