They include; The wrong Flea Treatments – Insecticides which are found in “spot on” flea treatments designed for dogs can be very toxic for cats. At this time of the year you might want to treat you cat for fleas, if you do make sure that you pick the right treatment. Call into Grove Vets and we will make sure that you “spot on” flea treatment wont be poisonous to your cat. Toad toxicity – Toads spawn during the summertime and are out and about frequently especially at dusk. If your cat comes across a toad and licks them they may be poisoned and need to see a vet. Symptoms can include frothing, foaming, vomiting, seizures and collapse in severe cases. Slug and Snail Pellets – These are common poisons put down by gardeners to deal with unwanted slugs and snails. If the pellets include metaldehtde it could be harmful to your cat. If your cat has ate a pellet or even just a small amount you will quickly notice incoordination, muscle spasms, and tremors. Billy Kerr Sportive – Ballymena Road Club

Ballymena Road Club have organised the Billy Kerr Sportive this Saturday, 16th August. Starting at the Showgrounds carpark in Ballymena the sportive has three different routes which will cover 67km, 115km and 150km. Each route will follow the North Antrim Coast. Route maps are available at Ballymena Road Club website. The event is in memory of Ballymena Road Club member and cycling legend Billy Kerr. Billy competed throughout Northern Ireland and attended the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 and Brisbane in 1982 and the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980.
